The Ninth Realm Beta

It feels great to be able to finally post about a new game! It has been a while. But there’s good reason for that, The Ninth Realm (our second multiplayer title) is our biggest and most ambitious project to date.

The game has evolved a lot since we first started but we’re really happy with how it has turned out. Throughout development I’ve never really known how to describe it to people but I have settled on calling it “a sort of fantasy strategy battle game.”

You take on the role of a Guardian, one of an ancient order who seek to retrieve lost Rune Stones from the Ninth Realm. Rune Stones are powerful stone tablets, capable of summoning monsters, items and spells. In order to use them you will need to collect resources (in the form of elements Earth, Air, Fire and Water).

Each game becomes an intense strategic battle as you move around the map, casting spells and summoning creatures to fight for you in your effort to outwit your opponent. But it doesn’t stop there. As you play you will uncover new Rune Stones and you will be able to hone your strategy by deciding which combination of stones to take into battle with you. It’s a complicated game with an endless number of potential strategies.

We’ve also built a lot of other features around the game. You can add other players to your friends list so that you can easily invite them to play with you next time. You can unlock a large amount of Guardian customisation options so that you can stand out from the crowd (you can even save your outfit to your computer to use as a forum avatar). You can complete challenges to unlock new banners and symbols to show off your prowess on the battlefield.

We really hope you like it and would very much appreciate your feedback at this early stage. You may need to find a friend to play against since it’s early days yet and we haven’t publicised the game very much.

Super Villainy

Super Villains in films are always trying to take over the world but have they stopped to think what would happen if they actually succeeded? That’s the basis for the plot in John and mine’s latest game, Super Villainy. The Villains take over the world, get bored, blow up the world, and then start fighting amongst themselves.

Get ready for Super Villain Battle Royale! Pick a randomised villain name and you’re ready to rock. You’ll fight little squids, big squids, flying toasters, grim reapers, evil robots, snakes, flying eyeballs, skull spiders, electric jelly fish, exploding brains and more in your bid to become the number one villain. Yeah, we had fun coming up with random enemy types.

Super Villainy is an arena shooter which is a genre that I haven’t tried my hand at before so it was a fun new challenge. We tried to incorporate all the elements players expect from a shooter whilst also packing in some more innovative stuff. We’ve got lots of enemies with different behaviours, epic bosses, enemy turrets that you can blow up, friendly turrets that you can hop in and use, slow motion, lots of cool upgrades, minions that you can recruit to fight for you, different mission objectives etc etc.

When you’ve completed all the missions there’s also an endless mode where you can aim for a high score.

Good luck!

Also, thanks to JayIsGames for this review!

Battle Beavers

I can’t believe it’s been over two months since we actually finished this game and we’ve only just released it! It took us a while to sort out a sponsorship deal with this one but it’s finally published at last. It’s another collaboration with my brother, John.

Battle Beavers is an RPG/Beat ‘em up where you play as a beaver named Bold who is suffering at the hands of the evil tyrant, Rangor. There’s equipment to unlock, stats to upgrade, plenty of enemies to fight, magic attacks and combo moves.

There’s also an epic final boss in the form of Rangor. Only the most hardened battle beavers will be able to defeat him in combat and restore peace to the plains… or something like that anyway.

I’m pretty happy with how the game has turned out. We enjoyed adding different attacks and enemies and testing the game was a lot of fun going round beating up enemies all day. So hopefully other people will like it too.

I got a friend to compose some music for us on this one and I hope you’ll agree he did a great job. Check out his soundcloud site for more tracks by him: http://soundcloud.com/jonathan-taylor

Also, just counted up and this is my 25th game! Seems like a milestone worth mentioning anyway :)

Update: Thanks to Mr Gee for this awesome Battle Beavers track!
