My name is Rob Donkin and I’m a Flash games developer. This site exists as a way to showcase my games and gives me a place to tell people a bit more about them and the process of making them. I now make games full time and I absolutely love it.
In the past I have worked on several collaborations with the artist robotJAM, as well as some solo efforts if they weren’t too art intensive. More recently though, I’ve been working with my brother, John. I started out trying to teach him the ropes on the coding side but it turns out he’s a very talented artist which has meant we’ve been able to work together. Together we’ve been branching out into the world of multiplayer games. Our first, Bad Eggs Online can be played here.
Writing code and designing games are two things that I’ve come to really love. The challenges that both present mean that this job (if you can call it that) is never dull and I’m always doing something I want to be doing – well, most of the time anyway!
People often ask me if I’d like to work for one of the big games companies working on huge releases and I always say no. Making Flash games means I get to be my own boss and I get to make the games I want to make. In the large companies it’s easy to become a tiny cog in a big machine where it can be difficult to play a part in the creative process and that’s something I really love.
I consider myself very lucky to be able to earn a living from something that I enjoy and am passionate about so I only hope that it can continue.
Huge thanks to all the support from people that have enjoyed my games over the years. That’s the thing that really puts a smile on my face. I like to read as many comments as I can about my games and some people have said some really nice things about them and I just want you to know that it really means a lot to me so thank you.
